My Approach to Accent Coaching
An authentic accent is more than reproducing sounds—it's about understanding the speech patterns, rhythm and identity that shape a character's world. My coaching helps actors develop accents that are truthful, embodied and fully connected to the story they are telling.
Together, we'll explore how an accent works, identifying the speech patterns that define it and developing the coordination needed to produce it with confidence, precision and consistency. The goal isn't imitation—it's creating an accent that feels believable, sustainable and fully integrated into performance.
Alongside accent work, we'll also explore vocal qualities that support character creation. While vocal qualities and accents are distinct, they work together to shape how a character communicates, helping you create performances that are authentic, specific and dramatically truthful.
My coaching combines specialist training from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Knight-Thompson Speechwork with a practical, actor-centred approach, helping you embody every accent with confidence, freedom and authenticity.
